The demo for Ubisofts new release for the Splinter Cell franchise is available on XBLive now. The file weighed in at more than 700MB in size and gives users a taste of the game’s multiplayer action. You can now buy cheats for Tiger Woods 2007 via XBLive. Instead of playing the game to reward yourself with the goodies you’d normally unlock, you can unlock golfers, courses, and other add-ons for a mere 200 points ($2.50) each. According to Sega, the Xbox Live Marketplace is now has a downloadable beta test of the Xbox 360 version’s online multiplayer mode that will be available until Sunday, October 15th. In the beta test, players will be able to create their characters and play the game with up to five others. Microsoft annouced that its’ Xbox Live service will be down for maintenance on October 17th. The down-time should last around 24 hours and will also affect Xbox.com. Microsoft states that this is not the fall dashboard update, rather a scheduled maitenance. EA has released a demo of Need For Speed: Carbon on Xbox Live Marketplace. The 1.06GB download will give players a chance to race with three different cars; the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1X MR Edition, Chevrolet Camaro SS, and Lamborghini Gallardo, . In a closed meeting at X06 in Spain, Peter Moore stated that the price of the Xbox 360 will not be reduced this fall. Contrary to rumors that have started over the past few weeks, Microsoft doesn’t plan on reducing its’ console price to further tighten the grip on the next-gen console war. Today, Microsoft Game Studios announced that Gears of War will make a playable appearance after screenings of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning in New York, Los Angelos, Chicago, and San Francisco. Come mid-November, 360 owners in North America, UK, France, Germany, and Japan will be able to enjoy HD-DVD movies with the release of the HD-DVD add-on from Microsoft. Microsoft today announced it’s plans for it’s HD-DVD add-on drive for the XBOX 360 in Japan. The add-on drive will be released in Japan on November 22nd and will be priced at 19,800 Yen which is about $170. Microsoft also revealed that an update is expected soon that will allow the Xbox 360 console to output full 1080p games and video.
