Sega has announced Aliens: Colonial Marines, an FPS developed by Gearbox Software (Brothers in Arms, Counter-Strike) based on the hit horror movies. Today, a free bonus map for another top-seller made its way to Xbox Live Marketplace. Activision has released the first multiplayer map for Call of Duty 3. The map, titled Champs, is set in a French farm town and is designed for small and medium-sized teams. Activision is also releasing a premium COD3 map pack, the Valor Pack, which contains five more battlegrounds. The valor pack has not been given a release date and will cost gamers 800 Marketplace points...

Microsoft has announced that there will be an online multiplayer beta for the much anticipated Halo 3, via Xbox Live. This beta is scheduled to launch Spring 2007, with the full game to be released “sometime” in 2007. It appears that the Fall update for 360 users will well for just about everyone. About 1% of 360 users that updated with this new Fall update have been left with a pretty paper weight. It’s rumored that these consoles that have failed when the new update has been applied were possibly modified.
