Microsoft has enjoyed great sales with the XBOX 360 for the 10 months it has been out and as the competition begins to roll out their next generation consoles, Microsoft has just announced its plans to ship 13-15 more consoles within the next 12 months.
The next few months will be a crucial time in the gaming industry. The Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii will both enter the market and competition will be stiff between the three next generation consoles, especially since the holiday season is just around the corner. Many experts are saying that the Wii will be the winner this year as the PS3 is far too pricey and the XBOX 360 is not planning to slash prices. I personally am not a big fan of the Wii’s new controller and am going to say that the XBOX 360 will continue to generate the most sales over the next 6 months and into 2007, but how the International market will respond to the launch of the two new consoles is still a variable and the PS3 is drawing up lots of buzz in areas like Japan, where Sony is based.
Microsoft has sold over 5 million XBOX 360 console’s earning over $4 billion in revenue, although the XBOX 360 department is still in the red with an operating loss of over $1.25 billion.
One thing is certain
