bunch of new info out on this quirky game, coming from this month’s issue of Nintendo Power Magazine, which one of the members of NeoGaf forums have summed up as follows:
· Control Neku on bottom screen with stylus – tap, slash, circle. · Control partner on upper screen with control pad or buttons (lefty-friendly) – up/down to evade, left/right to attack. · Card games on the top screen (i.e. Concentration and War) played by selecting the right combos when Neku’s partner attacks. · Mechanics start out simple, but build up complexity as you continue. · You can make enemies stronger, or lower your level to add varying degrees of difficulty. · “Over a dozen singers were hired to perform vocals for nearly every track in the game, and the end result is a high-energy melange of dance, trance and hip-hop with English, Engrish, and Japanese vocals”
– The points given in the interview with Tatsuya Kando:
· The game has been two and a half years in development. · Most of the staff worked on Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. · Music composed by Takeharu Ishimoto. · Japanese songs will definitely be in the North American release. · English songs are popular in Japan, due to that some words are “cooler” in English. · Game is set in Shibuya because it is symbolic as the center of the youth culture, map almost identical to Shibuya in real life. · Dual screen battles max out the hardware. · It is known that users feel a risk when buying a new IP, unlike buying an ‘established title’. · Difficulty slider put in place so everyone could reach the end without being bored or annoyed at the difficulty; can be adjusted at any time. · Characters level up when you have the game shut off for long periods of time. If you get bored or frustrated with the game, next time you come back to it, you find yourself stronger than before. · Multiplayer was considered earlier in development. · Well received in Japan, requests for a sequel. · Tatsuya Kando is currently working on Versus XIII.
Not to mention the launch of the english website of the game, which has one of the english songs playing in the background, reminding us that the game is coming out on March 17th. TheWorldEndsWithYou.com
