This year at GDC, Nintendo released information about their new online expansion service titled Wii Pay & Play. Details are scarce, but Nintendo’s Takashi Aoyama announced that the service will be “collecting fees for some services [that] will require us to adapt flexibly.” Other details include a new red “pay & play” logo to be used on specific Wi-fi compatible titles.

I think most of us can venture a guess that Nintendo will be making us pay to use certain things on their arguably lacking online service. Wonderful, Nintendo. Just Wonderful. Here’s to hoping they pick up the pace and start putting together a real online network.
